An anonymous reader alerted me to a problem with the new RSS feed… the feed at http://www.technoccult.com/feed/ doesn’t seem to be updating. http://www.technoccult.com/feed/rss2 seems to work, though. I’m not sure what’s going on, please let me know of any other issues.

R.I.P. D.W. Cooper
March 4th, 2005 by Klintron
Sad news, Invisible College blogger D.W. Cooper has passed away. I didn’t know him, but I loved his blog.
Not safe for work tributes at Sauceruney’s and Weird Pixie’s.

Sponsor Technoccult for one year for 13 bucks
February 10th, 2005 by Klintron
Update: Big thanks to Mad Ghoul for his sponsorship =)
As many of you know, I just moved last month. What you might not know is, I’m pretty broke right now. I just had to renew the klintron.com domain name, which cost me $12.95, which may not sound like a lot, but is quite a lot to me right now. So the first person who paypals me (klintfinley at yahoo dot com) $12.95 will get a spot on the Technoccult sidebar listing them as a sponsor. I promise to keep this spot for 1 year.
(I’ll just decline subsequent Paypal payments)

Comments disabled, software update soon
January 26th, 2005 by Klintron
I’ve disabled comments because there’s a hack circulating that uses MT’s comment script to e-mail spam. Apparently it’s possible to use the script to access the web server’s e-mail server. Doh!
So this is motivating me to finally switch this blog over to Word Press, hopefully sometime today or tomorrow.

Submission guidelines update
January 25th, 2005 by Klintron
What was I thinking? The new word limit is 10,000 words, not 2,000. I guess I was thinking in terms of journalism rather than fiction.

Technoccult International is moving its global offices…
December 30th, 2004 by Klintron
Hey everybody, I’m moving to Laramie, WY next week. I’m moving down there to be closer to these beautiful people. Laramie’s only a couple hours away from Denver, so I’ll probably be down there a fair amount. Any Technoccultists who want to get together should drop me a comment here.
(Kinda strange to think that I was sitting at this very desk in my parents’ study over 5 years ago when I coded the first version of this site, back when I was still in high school)
Oh, I still don’t have a job down there yet, so any prayers to your god(s) would be appreciated =)

Anyone know what font the Technoccult wordmark is in?
December 21st, 2004 by Klintron
So I made that word mark (the little title thing next to the Aztec god up there) a long time ago on an old computer that’s fried now. And for the life of me I can’t remember what font I used. Does anyone have any clue?

Ads on Technoccult, and in RSS feeds
December 9th, 2004 by Klintron
As you may have noticed, I’ve been running Google ads for the past couple months, and have added some Amazon affliate links recently as well. I’m still undecided as to whether these ads are worth the money they make. Traffic has only increased since I started running the ads. Probably because I’ve been better about posting. But I wanted to give you, dear reader, the chance to let me know what you think about this advertising business.
1. Do you mind the ads on Technoccult?
2. Do you read Technoccult on the web or entirely in your feedreader?
3. Do you prefer to read whole feeds in your feedreader, or do you prefer only excerpts?
4. Would you prefer an ad-free exceprt feed to a ad supported full feed?
5. Would you pay a small fee (say, $1 - 5 a year) for an ad-free full feed?
6. If you use a feedreader, which one do you use? (The Cabal counts).

Returned
October 5th, 2004 by Klintron
I’m home again, and ready to take the reigns again here at Technoccult. I want to thank Melissa for the great posts she did while I was gone. Be sure to check her out at Sacred Whore. She’ll also be joining us at Key 23, and she might just have another post or two over here.

Passin’ the mic
September 10th, 2004 by Klintron
I’m leaving tomorrow and won’t be back until next month. Melissa Gira the Sacred Whore will be blogging until I get back. Melissa’s a “priestess, artist, writer, multimedia whore, BDSM professional, peepshow girlie, post-pornmongerer.”
Tomorrow I’m heading down south to visit some friends at the University of Wyoming, and will be in NYC from the 15th until the 22nd and Chicago from the 23rd until the 30th. Drop me a line if you’re in the area.

I’m flying to Austin for work on Wednesday July 28th and staying until August 1st. Any readers in the Austin area want to meetup?
I’m also going to be in New York and Chicago for week each sometime in the second half of September, most likely.

Comments restored
July 11th, 2004 by Klintron
Last weekend Technoccult got nailed with a huge spam bomb. And while using Mt-blacklist to try to delete the spam comments, I accidently deleted the last 300 comments from this site and Klintron’s Brain. Ooops. Luckily, I didn’t rebuild the site, so all the comments were still in HTML format. Luckily I found a perl script I found on Movable Type support forums, written by anakin513 and apakuni.
Michael modified the script to work with my files, and I think everything’s in order now. I think I’ve restored all the non-spam and non-troll messages posted since the problem occured, but I’m not sure.
A lot of the category tags got dropped, the permalinks are all ruined, and I might have lost some extended entries along the way.
I plan to move to Word Press in the next week or so, so the permalinks will all change again, so don’t go updating them now. At that point I’ll fix the categories. If you come across an entry that should be an extended entry and isn’t, please leave a comment.
And again, mad props to Michael for getting that Perl script working.

Welcome to the Technoccult blog roll
June 29th, 2004 by Klintron
I’ve added a few new people to the blog roll, please welcome: LVX23, Mindwarp, the Invisible College, Dehiscence, and Vortex Egg. Someone really should host all these blogspot blogs. I’d do it, but I’m so flakey about keeping my hosting and domain name registration paid up…

Movable Type style sheets
June 9th, 2004 by Klintron
Movable Style is a collection of style sheets that work with the default Movable Type templates and can be simply dropped into Movable Type to change the look.
I’m using Orange Purple for the archives until I have time to do a proper re-design.

Klintron returns
June 3rd, 2004 by Klintron
I’m back in the states, and though I’m still traveling for the next few weeks, I’ll be posting here again.
Of course, many thanks to Michael and Wes for their amazing posts while I was gone. I still need to catchup on a lot of their posts here, and on their own excellent blogs.

Return to Normalcy?
May 31st, 2004 by Michael
Well, it’s May 31st, which means that Klint is due back from Europe tomorrow. I’d just like to express my appreciation for him letting myself and Wes take control for the past two months. It’s been an excellent experience that has made me more blog-savvvvvvvvy (wanted to make sure I put enough v’s in there).
In addition to Klint, I’d like to thank Wes for a great deal of valuable input, and for having excellent timing when it came to posting during days when I was having blogger’s block.
I’d also like to thank my boss at my real job, for never being in the office to monitor my work productivity. Without his absence, I would have scarcely found enough time.

Updates from the road…
April 11th, 2004 by Klintron
Klintron here, just noting that I made 2 quick changes… added the category of post to the post itself (shoulda done that a long time ago!), and enabled incoming trackbacks since Wes is actually using the outgoing trackback feature. However, other than the Depsychedelicised Wasteland post, trackbacks aren’t actually enabled on any old posts. New posts will now have trackbacks enabled by default, but old posts will have to be changed by hand when I have the time.
Also, I just wanted to thank Michael and Wes for doing such a wonderful job!

Welcome the guest bloggers
March 30th, 2004 by Klintron
Well, I’m out of here in the morning. I’ll probably still be blogging at Klintron’s Brain.
The technoccult.net migration is in process, I have no idea what sort of odd behavior it may cause. I’m sure problems will arise, and I will try to fix them as they come up. The dot-com URL should continue to be reliable.
And most importantly, I’d like to welcome Michael and Wes to the mic.
Peace,
Klintron
