I’m in the middle of a server move, and it could take a while and get messy - it could be done my morning or it might not be done til Monday, depending on how things go.

New guest bloggers: TiamatsVision and Danny Chaoflux
October 24th, 2007 by Klintron
Please welcome TiamatsVision and Danny Chaoflux to Technoccult. Danny is the designer of the Technoccult logo, and my co-conspirator for both Portland Occulture and Esozone. And you probably know TiamatsVision for her prolific commenting here at Technoccult. I’m looking forward to seeing what they share with us.

Turning ads off and on
September 4th, 2007 by Klintron
I thought I did a post on this, but either I didn’t or it got deleted… anyway, in case you haven’t noticed you can turn off the ads by clicking the “Turn Off Ads” link at the top of the page. You could also turn them back on again, if you wanted to do that for some reason. The ads on Hexx will disappear if you login.

Announcing Hexx, plus a new site design
September 4th, 2007 by Klintron
In case you’re reading in an RSS reader: there’s a new design at Technoccult, so Technoccult, so check it out. The new design was created by me based on the HemmingwayEx theme for WordPress. I will eventually package it for release on its own. The new logo was designed by Danny Chaoflux.
Also, check out the new subsite Hexx, where you can submit your own links through a Digg-style interface.
Oh, and I may break a few things here or there as I work out the kinks in the new design.

I’m in Portland
January 10th, 2006 by Klintron
Just a quick update to let everyone know why it’s been slow… I’ve made my move to Portland. I don’t have Internet access where I’m staying, so updates may be spotty for a while.

I’m moving to Portland
December 11th, 2005 by Klintron
For all of you who don’t read my personal blog: I’m moving to Portland next month. I’ll be really busy for the rest of the month, so it’s possible things will slow down on this blog (I’ll probably looking for guest bloggers to fill in next month… more on that later). BTW, if anyone has any leads or advice on finding work in Portland (what temp agencies are good, which to avoid, etc.), please comment or e-mail me at klintfinley at yahoo dot com.

Giving thanks
November 23rd, 2005 by Klintron
As I prepare to leave town for the holiday, I wanted to share a few quick thoughts. I’ll spare you posting Burrough’s “Thanksgiving Prayer,” as I’m sure many others will do today or tomorrow. I’ll also spare you a rant on the brutal rape the Native Americans suffered (and continue to suffer, as we see as the Abramoff case unfolds). I’ll leave that to better informed people.
I just want to ask you to be thankful to everyone who had a part in bringing you food this year. The animals and plants, to the ranchers and farmers and hunters, everyone involved in food processing, canning, etc., everyone in involved with shipping food around the world and within your country, the grocery store and restaurant workers, your family and friends who prepared you meals, and anyone I may have forgotten. And, if you will, the gods and goddesses and other spirits that made it all possible, or just the awesome power of nature.
And everyone who has plenty might consider making a donation to America’s Second Harvest or the Mercy Corps .
Also, the Hunger Site a click a day sends food all over the world, at no cost to you.

Help make the Technoccult podcast a reality… I need a tracker
October 28th, 2005 by Klintron
OK, so I think my problem’s stemming from the trackers I’m trying to use. I’m going to need a more dedicated tracker. Anyone have one, or can anyone suggest a solid public tracker for me to use? And is there anyone out there with a lot of torrent hosting experience that can help me get started? I’d like to integrate Blog Torrent as well, if that’s possible with a off-site tracker.

Back
August 15th, 2005 by Klintron
I’m back from the northwest. It was a great trip, much needed. Haven’t gotten much sleep the past few days, though. I drove 16 hours yesterday to get home from Portland, and went back to work today. It might take me a couple days to get the ball rolling again…
Much, much thanks to Fell, Jason, salaTHRUStra, and Lucifer for painting my fence guest editing the blog while I was away. There’s a lot of good stuff posted here that I’m going to have a great time reading over the next few days. One of my favorite things about doing this blog is seeing what guests bring to the table. It’s just so much fun for some reason…

I’m taking a break from blogging
April 6th, 2005 by Klintron
I’ve decided to take a break from blogging for a while. At least a week, maybe more. I’m trying to juggle a lot right now: work, blogging, excercise, writing, reading, magic, having a social life, not to mention those day to day things like cooking and cleaning. So something’s got to give. I’m also starting to feel that fabled “blogger fatigue.” I’ve been doing this for like 6 years now, so I don’t feel too bad about a break.
Also, I’m starting at least one new blog and all my existing blogs need some sort of work done to them: Klintron’s Brain needs to be upgraded to WP1.5, Technoccult’s comments are broken, Coffee and Caffeine’s posting funtion is broken, and all my blogs need to be re-designed. So all that technical and design work needs to be done, and after spending 40+ hours a week dinking around with computers, I just don’t feel like doing these tasks most of the time. So now’s a good time to just say “forget about it” for a little while before coming back to it all and getting serious about “going pro.”

Comments all funked up

Comments are broken. I don’t know what’s going on. Hopefully I can figure it out over the weekend. Anyone have much experience dinking with Wordpress 1.5?

A statement of will
March 26th, 2005 by Klintron
At the beginning of 2004 I wrote a blog post about my goals for that year. I later wrote a Key 23 article about it, speculating it may have had a hypersigilic effect. I’m a little late this year, but I’ve got some will I want to release into the world.
Within the next couple months I’m going to launch a “not safe for work” sister site for Technoccult. I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while, but after some prodding from Dr. Menlo (uhhh… absolutely no pun intended), I’ve decided to get it going as soon as possible. The site will be a hypersigil itself, with one of the intended outcomes being me being able to actually make a living off blogging within one year.
In the mean time, I want to get back into an excercise routine (something I did last year that amazed me) and maintain the writing routine that I’ve gotten into the past couple weeks. I want to sell at least one piece of fiction this year.
Another thing I did last year was attempt to change the “creative team” of my life. At t he time it seemed like my life was written and illustrated by Peter Bagge with a soundtrack by Modest Mouse. I successfully changed it to a life written by Grant Morrison, illustrated by Philip Bond, and with a soundtrack by Gold Chains.
With the “global sci-fi lifestyle” winding down, I’d like to switch creative teams for the next year. A lower key, more fun and quirky life would be good. So I’m thinking: written and illustrated by Mike Allred (colored by Laura Allred) with a soundtrack by Pop Will Eat Itself.

RSS problems
March 18th, 2005 by Klintron
An anonymous reader alerted me to a problem with the new RSS feed… the feed at http://www.technoccult.com/feed/ doesn’t seem to be updating. http://www.technoccult.com/feed/rss2 seems to work, though. I’m not sure what’s going on, please let me know of any other issues.

R.I.P. D.W. Cooper
March 4th, 2005 by Klintron
Sad news, Invisible College blogger D.W. Cooper has passed away. I didn’t know him, but I loved his blog.
Not safe for work tributes at Sauceruney’s and Weird Pixie’s.
