What is the best Lovecraft collection?

March 20th, 2005 by Klintron

I’m almost afraid to admit it, but I’ve never read any H.P. Lovecraft. I know, I know. Cut me some slack, I’m young and there’s only so many hours in a day. So to remedy this situation I need to know what the best Lovecraft story collection is. Please recommend only one.

Also, the only Kafka I’ve read is Metamorphasis, and that was years ago. So I could use a decent Kafka collection as well.

still interested in a print collection, or at least some suggestions on where to start in the online collection.

In my opinion, the best one-volume Lovecraft collection is almost certainly the very recent Library of America collection.

I loaned my two book S.T. Joshi lovecraft set to a buddy in Austin or I’d send them your way in may- that said, if they re-arrive before I head out I’ll bring them

Those being The Annotated Lovecraft & More Annotated Lovecraft, edited by S.T. Joshi

Very much worth reading if you’re reading lovecraft for the first time, with enough footnotes and trivia to really get an idea of what sources lovecraft was using

    excellent stuff

Thanks, but who is this? Still haven’t figured out the missing “name” field problem…
